Eulogy Spoken by Daniel Khatri at Jeremiah's Public Funeral
Jeremiah Khatri; born March 1st 1925, died 25th August 1955 known to the world as a peace keeper and to me as a brother lived a short but meaningful life. I am sure that both humans and shifters will mourn his passing; we are going to miss his attitude toward people, his courage and his awe-inspiring aura.
Jeremiah was fun, brave, smart and a very virtuous person. I remember a time, before he was involved in the war, before he discovered his
powers, when we were just innocent brothers. I remember the years at school; Jeremiah was the one that would always protect me, not just from the bullies but also from their parents whom for some reason did not like our family. I also remember the many nights in a candle light where he would help me with my studies, because unlike him I was terrible at math and science and only good at procrastinating. However the best memories that comes back to me about Jeremiah is seeing him with father side-by-side flying a kite, the broad smile across his face was like the arc to heaven- golden and incredible.
Before Jeremiah Shape Shifters were seen as a devil, unnatural mutations of god’s creation, creatures with humanoid features that a scientist
had created in eggs to enslave the world. However Jeremiah proved to the world that not all Shape Shifters were devils, he himself was a Shifter like his biological father who was the scientist that created the Shifter, but Jeremiah chose to use his powers for good and so did many of the shifters the world had deemed monsters. To the world Jeremiah is their saviour, a liberator, and peace keeper; the one whom prevented the world from being enslaved and shrouded by the darkness of the his biological father the High Shape Shifter. However many do
not realise the pain that he went through, the confusion he felt that almost ripped him apart. He saw his real father kill our father, the one we had loved dearly. Still he fought on for the greater good utilizing all the power available to him to, which in the end liberated the world but at a cost to his life.
Last Thursday the sacrifice that Jeremiah made to end the war caught up with him, his rapid use of power during the last weeks of the war made his body age rapidly. But, Jeremiah passed into the next world with dignity and after making the one he was born into a better place. He showed us how to find compassion for our enemies and that we may not be that different to them. If there is anything that Jeremiah taught me and the rest of the world it is, in his own words, ”Don’t see and assume, know and understand”
Jeremiah, dearest brother I bid thee farewell.
